About the School
School Organisation
The school is currently organised in 4 mixed age classes:-
- Class 1 Reception and Year 1
- Class 2 Years 1 & 2
- Class 3 Years 3 & 4
- Class 4 Years 5 & 6
The class teacher is responsible for the work and general well being of the children in their class. However, we consider the school to be a community in which behaviour is based on mutual respect and consideration and any anti-social behaviour is strongly discouraged.
Admissions
Parents who are considering sending their children to St. Nicholas are welcome to make an appointment with the Headteacher, who will be pleased to show them round the school and provide further information.
Children come to St. Nicholas not only from our immediate catchment area, but also from the wider Wickford and Rayleigh area. The school is able to admit 17 reception children each year. There is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admissions area. In the event of over-subscription places will be allocated using the following criteria:-
- Children living in the priority admissions area with a sibling attending the school
- Other children living in the priority admissions area
- Children living outside the priority admissions area with a sibling attending the school
- Remaining applications
Exceptional medical circumstances are considered on an individual basis.
All children are admitted full time in the September following their 4th birthday. During the previous September all parents of eligible Essex resident children, registered with an Essex GP, will be sent a common application form from the LA as admissions authority. This, or an online application must be received by the Local Authority on or before the beginning of December.
