Our School Grounds

We are fortunate at St. Nicholas CofE Primary School to have a fantastic outdoor space that is used for learning and for recreation. We feel that it is vitally important to ensure that learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom.

Why not browse the photographs that show some of the outdoor areas?

A learning environment should, we believe, stimulate and support learning. Our school is located in a modern, purpose built building. Each learning area is bright and airy. The building was designed to house 21st Century learners and is equipped with many modern aids to learning as well as integral features designed by children.

As a visitor enters our school, they are greeted by a panel of glass tiles that form a barrier to a different area of the school. Each tile was designed by a child and was faithfully recreated by a glass artist. In a similar way, visitors often comment on the stained glass that is built into the walls. Each of the stained glass “windows” was designed by the children.

We plan to ensure that where we are able, we provide quality equipment that supports education. For example, we have a well equipped ICT suite and a bank of laptops which all log onto a wireless network. Every classroom has an interactive whiteboard amongst other learning equipment. In addition, we have a well resourced children’s cookery area as well as an array of PE equipment. We also work closely with our local secondary school who loan us specialist equipment and resources to support us with the delivery of our curriculum.
